202 Confirmed Coronavirus Cases In South Africa

South Africa now has 202 confirmed cases of COVID-19 20th of March 2020. Dr Zweli Mkhize said that the Coronavirus could infect up to 60% of the population. Simple hygiene is very important to counter the coronavirus, said Dr Zweli Mkhize. There has been an increase of 52 new COVID-19 cases in South Africa.

Dr Zweli Mkhize says one of the positive cases in Free State is a mother of two, who is a health worker. Because of her work she does in a private hospital, the government has identified the number of patients she looked after and they too will be screened.

The virus will affect everyone differently and not everyone will be seriously ill. "The virus is going to be with us for quite a while, it will be one of those viruses that our bodies will have to build new immunities to face," says Dr Zweli Mkhizesays. Dr Zweli Mkhizesays said that the public must not panic because 80% of the people might have symptoms but do not need to be treated in hospital for the virus.
