South Africa now has 709 confirmed cases of COVID-19 25th of March 2020. There has been an increase of 155 new COVID-19 cases in South Africa. Dr Zweli Mkhize said that there have been no casualties and that all patients are improving, only two are in ICU in private hospitals. Health Minister Zweli Mkhize noted that Mangaung, Free State is a cause for concern.
"The tendency is changing from imported coronavirus cases to local transmission. This is why the lockdown is important", says Mkhize.
Mkhize said that the increase in the Free State were all linked to the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast which the Divine Restoration Ministries in Bloemfontein hosted. Five Covid-19 positive foreigners from the United States, Israel and France took part in the breakfast.
Mkhize said they were still looking for 300 people who were the service. Among those who had attended the service were ACDP leader Kenneth Meshoe, ACDP MP Steve Swart and well-known pastor Angus Buchan. All three of them have indicated that they have been tested.
Mkhize said that the Free State case is an example of testing. First, they had 5 cases. And after we traced all the contacts now it's up to 30, which indicates local spread. Mkhize noted that There is no clear evidence that people who take ibuprofen worsens the condition.
