Just a few minutes after the lockdown curfew Monday the 4th of May 2020 the StayEasy hotel in Rustenburg, North West was robbed by armed robbers. The hotel security was held at gunpoint, and the robbers asked for the alcohol first.

Willie Kruger, hotel manager at StayEasy, said that for the criminals the main priority was the alcohol but wanted to enter the rooms to see what valuable items there were. The robbers stole the alcohol and eight plasma televisions.

The security guards held at gunpoint are traumatised. Management says they will be receiving counselling. Willie Kruger noted that they are in contact with the security company to be more vigilant as well as the guys that work at night to be a bit safer and be vigilant about their surroundings.
